Postmark Deadline: January 31, 2009

The Iowa Composers Forum will host a one-day ‘Nuts and Bolts Festival’ on Saturday, May 16, 2009 in Cedar Rapids, IA. The festival will include 4 or 5 presentations focusing on the business skills needed for successful composers and one chamber concert.  ICF members in good-standing are invited to submit up to two scores for chamber ensembles of 1-3 performers drawn from any of the standard orchestral instruments, piano, harp, guitar, saxophone, voice (Sop, Alto, Tenor, or Bar/Bass) and electronics (two-channel tape alone or with acoustic instruments). CD playback will be available for works involving electronics. Submissions should include a cover letter indicating the scores submitted, durations, composer contact information, recordings (if available), whether the composer can supply performers, and a SASE (if the return of materials is desired). The conference host envisions a concert that includes some premieres, so please indicate in your cover letter whether or not each piece has been performed. All composers receiving a performance at the festival will be required to register, attend the festival, and briefly address the audience about their work.  The postmark deadline for submissions is January 31, 2009. Please send materials to:

Ralph Kendrick
220 Carnaby Dr. NE
Cedar Rapids, IA 52402

For questions, please contact Ralph at ohrals@aol.com or (319) 447-9440.
