From 2006 through 2011, the Iowa Composers Forum will award yearly a $500 college scholarship to help a talented young Iowa composer study music at an Iowa College or University. Interested applicants should be a resident of Iowa and currently be either a Senior in High School or a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior in College. Students need not be a composition major, but should be majoring in music for the 2010-2011 academic year.

The postmark deadline for entries to the Scholarship Competition is May 1, 2010. Applicants should submit one original score and a completed entry form (found below) Applications should be mailed to Iowa Composers Forum; c/o Ralph Kendrick; 220 Carnaby Dr. NE; Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. The funding for the scholarship was received from a generous donation by Marion resident and ICF member Marilynn Etzel. Ms. Etzel hopes that the scholarship will help further the creation of new music by young Iowa Composers. The winner of the competition will be announced by July 1 this year.
