<title>2012 Iowa Music Teachers Association Composer Competition</title>

<description>Deadline: December 28, 2011 (Receipt)

The winner will be commissioned to write a piece of chamber music for cello and piano. The work should be written for late intermediate to early advanced performers and should be approximately 6-8 minutes in length.

The prize will include a $1500 commissioning fee. ($750 from Music Teachers National Association, MTNA and $750 from Iowa Music Teachers Association, IMTA)</description>

<description>On October 15-17 Iowa State University Department of Music and Theatre and the Iowa Composers Forum (ICF) will host a Fall Festival of New Music featuring chamber, electroacoustic, wind ensemble, and choral music by composer members of the ICF from Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas. The festival will include three concerts on Friday and Saturday featuring works by ICF members, and an Iowa State Singers concert on Sunday afternoon which will include a work by an ICF member. The composers of each ICF work will be in attendance and will introduce their piece to the audience. In addition, there will be a concert Friday evening featuring guest composer Elainie Lillios (Bowling Green State University of Ohio) sponsored by the C. Buell Lipa Festival for Contemporary Music at Iowa State University.</description>

<description>On May 22, 2010, the Iowa Composers Forum will host A Cedar Rapids Festival of New Music featuring chamber and choral music of 21 living composers from Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, and Michigan performed by members of Orchestra Iowa. The festival will include free concerts at 11 am and 4 pm at West Music in Marion, and an 8 pm concert at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.  Tickets for the Lovely Lane concert are $8 and may be purchased at the door.</description>
